Learning to manage email more effectively, for example, by only touching each email once and funneling it into an appropriate system for later follow up, can have a significant impact on the bottom line of information oriented organizations!
Practical Skills!
The interaction prompts a series of email scenarios where the trainee makes decisions about which system to transfer the email into. They receive a couple of different feedback consequences based on their decisions.
Sender Context
Each email in the interaction provides some context for the sender to help support decision making.
Scenario Prompt
The message of the email outlines the scenario that the trainee must respond to. Selecting the correct system to process the email results in points and positive feedback. Incorrect responses produce humorous feedback and an opportunity to try again or move on.
Scenario Options
These scenario options (described in a module just prior to the interaction) provide decision options for the email.
Realistic Training Context
The interaction takes place in the same environment the trainee checks email in.
Project Overview
This interaction packs scenario based practice with information and engagement strategies throughout the course.
The design process involved conceptualizing the course, prototyping the module in Twine, development, and feedback.
The next step was to develop the functionality in Storyline 360, additional user tests and feedback, and final development and polishing.
This style of course is great for teaching a variety of skills, and is flexible for a number of different environments.
